I just recently purchased the xion audio profile lp player which as a usb connector. I know its not professional level equipment.

I have been dabbling around with it and I have it connected to cd spin doctor. When its time to save the imported audio the following options are presented

aif/aiff
linear pcm, 8 bit big-endian signed integer
linear pcm, 16 bit big-endian signed integer
linear pcm, 24 bit big-endian signed integer
linear pcm, 32 bit big-endian signed integer


wav
linear pcm, 8 bit big-endian unsigned integer
linear pcm, 16 bit big-endian signed integer
linear pcm, 24 bit big-endian signed integer
linear pcm, 32 bit big-endian signed integer
linear pcm, 32 bit big-endian floating point
linear pcm, 64 bit big-endian floating point
u-law 2:1

apple mpeg4 audio
aac
mpeg4 high efficiency aac
mpeg4 low delay aac
apple lossless

After being imported the songs will be imported to itunes and played there and on an ipod.

so my questions are
Is audacity better than cd spin doctor for such a simple project
Is there a way to find out the quality of the audio that comes in on the usb cable from the vinyl player?
What format should the source files be saved in?

Thanks, but this is my backup phone. I know I can probably replace the LCD and sell it for higher but I'd rather just sell it outright. The best offer I received is $240, will sell for $245 + shipping if anyone here is interested.

Hi all, I recently rebooted and have noticed a small blue "bubble" on my screen. It is transparent and turns opaque when you mouse over it. If you click on it, it activates the function usually assigned to the F10 key for Expose. I can move it around the screen like something from Konfabulator. I do have both Konfabulator and Growl installed, but they are both off right now.. and this thing still won't go away. Any help?

That's the "Expose Blob." Do you have Cocktail? If so, Cocktail can turn that on and off.
If you don't have Cocktail, download it. It's shareware and you can use it for free for this one time. The best thing to do would be to spend the $9.95 for it in case the blob ever comes back.

Has anyone been able to force an apple store to guarantee a Lion O/S upgrade for free with the purchase of a Macbook pro now?

Usually the Up-to-Date programs start on the day the announce the release date (or announce something more specific than "summer"--like a month) and end a few months after the release.

The Snow Leopard UTD lasted from June 8 to December 29.

Look for the easy button under the type menu. Seriously, selecting the correct type to go with a mark, or use as a particular style is specific to what you are trying to say. Your question implies that you don't know what you are doing. Why don't you prove me wrong and post some examples of your work that includes type you think works... and type that doesn't.

It IS a reasonable price to protect your 1GB Shuffle. People are protective of their Apple kit, because it is designed so well. They want to preserve the look, even if it costs a little extra. $30 is still way cheaper than replacing your Shuffle because of scuffs and scratches on the case.

And besides, it's blue, to boot... ;)

interesting way of seeing it...

yet, why preserve the pristine look of the shuttle when you will not be able appreciate it with this case on?

and then of course, alu scratches badly, so one would need to buy a case to protect the case. yikes! :)

What will happen is you'd have to go thru alot of BS and probably spend plenty of money to replace it. If you have a bad feeling and unsure about bringing it somewhere either dont bring it or use a different cell that you dont care about losing.
Not sure what the deal is with your carrier or if you have insurance or not that would cover theft and if it has a deductable etc...
You should call them to get details though.

Talk to Apple. This looks like the infamous Nvidia 8600M issue and may still be covered under Apple's replacement scheme (I actually got a brand new MBP out of them about 6 months out of warranty).

Make an appointment at your local genius bar and see what they say.

The 8600M only appeared in the Macbook Pro and I believe only the 08 model. The OP says his computer is a Macbook and from early 2007 so will be using the Intel 950 integrated graphics.

Wow there's so much variety in everyone's preferences. I feel pretty ignorant not even hearing about EE or silverstripe until this thread (also for mixing Ruby on Rails as a CMS rather than a framework :o ) I really enjoy theming in Drupal, although it is a challenge.

I think only a few east coast stores ever had them, and you were required to activate in store to prevent re-selling.

Anyways, that doesn't apply at all to anyone international. eyemac, no don't worry about it :) I'd prefer to keep offers to PM just for privates sake but I will comment that I'm looking for a little more because I still lose a few dollars there, and I really don't want to lose any money. I'm seeing them go for $450-$550 on eBay so that would be optimal but I don't expect that here, of course.

They can now be purchased online as well in all parts of the country for $249 through AT&T (there's no contract when buying the phone, either), there's a thread about it in the iPhone news forum. So I think that price would be very optimistic, as anyone on here could get one for $249 and have it unlocked in twenty minutes.

Also, if it's a refurb, why does it come in the packaging for new phones? IIRC, refurb iPhones come in brown boxes...

Your best bet is ebay, especially if you want prices like that.

Don't get me wrong, the PS3 has very good graphics, and so does the 360. I have both, so I've seen what they can do right now.
